Our number one highlight of the year was our 50th
Wedding Anniversary. Our children did a great job planning and doing
it. All of our children were here in Snowflake--there were 58 out of 70
family members here to help us celebrate. It was joy to be in the Snowflake Temple with our family! They made
a book for us that we will treasure
forever. There are at least 2
pages of current photos of each
family. Plus there are photos of Fred
and me in our dating years and our family as each of our children were
born. It was kind of our relatives and
friend to be with us at the Social Hall--that was a lot of fun! Natalie came the week before to
finalize the preparations. We also took walks together. Jerry
was our photographer. Melvin and Nicole were in charge of the Stewart Reunion, so we ate well and had
fun at the park.
On our actual Golden Wedding Anniversary August 23rd,
we attended the open house of the beautiful Brigham City temple. Valerie and Grant
live in Brigham City,
so they invited us to a genuine Bed and
Breakfast in their home. We felt like royalty.
On this trip we attended three Utah
temples for the first time: Monticello, Draper and Manti.
We enjoyed being with Natalie’s children in San Antonio, Texas
while Natalie and Justin celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary
in Hawaii.
It was nice to have an expense–free vacation. We enjoyed their family,
attended the San Antonio Temple,
the River Walk and the Alamo.
March 21 we bought a 2010 Hyundai Sonata.
We ran into a deer on our trip to Utah—it
is now repaired, and it looks better than it did before.
We attended three out of the four baptisms: Lauren 25 Feb in WA, John 7 April, UT, Abbie
3 Nov, UT, Dylan 24 Nov. in NJ.
Our missionary grandson, Mason, returned from the Washington Spokane Mission (11June). We
heard him speak in church June 17. Baxter is serving in the Ohio Columbus Mission (11
Jan.)
Four of our grandchildren are attending college: Maile, BYU; Kaylee, BYU
ID, Victoria, U of U, and Spencer, Green River Community
College. Spencer earned his Eagle Scout award.
Years ago our cousins planned a weekly cousin-aunt-sister Wednesday temple
session and then we eat and visit.
Fred and I attended his 55th High School reunion in Taylor--it was fun to see and visit with his classmates. (I plan to put the photos on a blog in a few weeks and I will send you the blog address).
Fred and I work at the temple on
Thursday and Saturday afternoons.
Fred
received a new church calling—to be a helper
‘Assistant Engineer’ to the Snowflake
Temple presidency by
working one Monday a.m. a month and by locking the temple every Wed. and Thurs.
nights. He is also the Saturday afternoon temple men's
coordinator. He is our Ward Financial Clerk and a Home Teacher. He is the post
office Custodian. He takes good care of our yard. We were blessed to
have a productive garden.
On Fred’s
birthday we took a 7 hour trip to Cottonwood,
Pine, Strawberry and Rainbow Campground where his grandparent Stewarts lived
for a while.
In February we added texting to our cell
phones. Since all of our children live out of state, it is nice to have
another way to communicate with them.
We like staying overnight with our
children when we visit them.
I finished making and copying my 50th High School Class book of our classmates---a page
or two for each classmate. It has been fun to be in contact with them.
I made a duct
tape wallet for each of our family members for their birthdays. This year I am sending the Friend and/or New Era which was published the month and year that they were born.
I enjoy my daily
‘walk and talk’ with seven other ladies.
We eat together to celebrate our
birthdays.
I like to keep family records
up-to-date in charts and PAF.
I have been enjoying copying our family video
tapes to DVDs.
We are thankful for you and the letters and
photos you send.
We are thankful for the Atonement and the peace the
Gospel brings. :)
